Choose Life: The deletion or amendment of Article 40.3.3, would serve no purpose other than to withdraw the right to life from some categories of unborn children. ORDINATION MASS TIME: Sunday 17th December at 12.00noon .

Please note, there will be no 11.30am Mass on the 17th December due to Martin Reidy’s

Diaconate Ordination. All other mass times remain the same.

GOOD LUCK: We wish Martin Reidy best wishes as he prepares for his Permanent Diaconate Ordination next Sunday. We ask you all to keep Martin and his family in your prayers.

Christmas Triduum of Masses: Christmas Mass Cards will be on sale again this year. You can purchase the cards in the Sacristy or Parish Office for €3.00 each or 4 for €10.00 

CHILDRENS CHOIR: We are hoping to get a Children’s Choir up and running in the next few weeks. We would like to get the parents support with this and ask you to encourage your children to become involved.

REFRESHMENTS REQUEST: We will be having light refreshments in the Parish Hall after Martin’s Ordination on the 17th December. If you would like to bake something small please contact Monica Gleeson, Nancy Scally or the Parish Office to let us know.

AREA DISTRIBUTORS: The Christmas envelopes are available to distribute this weekend. They can be collected from the Sacristy. Thank you for your help delivering these.

Roscommon Cancer Support Centre: are holding their annual Christmas market in the Abbey Hotel Roscommon today (Sunday December 10th) from 1pm-5pm. All the sights, sounds and aromas of the festive season will be there and there will also be a special visit from Santa. BALLYBAY NATIONAL SCHOOL: The Annual Lighting of Ballybay NS Christmas Tree will be held today (Sunday, 10th December) at 6:00 p.m. 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class will sing carols in the church and everyone is encouraged to join in. This will be followed by the lighting of the tree and hot chocolate in the hall. The Parents Association raffle drawing will also take place on the night. Tickets may be purchased in advance from Ballybay students and from the school office.

St. Brigid’s G.A.A.: Lotto Jackpot this weekend €13,000.

Last weeks results: Numbers Drawn—07/ 19 / 24 / 32. There was no jackpot winner There were 10 match three winner, receiving €20.00. Draw takes place Sunday night 10/12/2017 in Brigid’s Sports & Social Centre at 10pm.

CONGRATULATIONS: to u20 team and management on winning their first ever u20 title on Sunday last in Ballyforan.

DINNER DANCE: St Brigid’s Dinner Dance will take place in Hodson Bay Hotel on Friday 12th January 2018. Our special guest on the night will be Oisín McConville with the presentation of medals to the Minor County and Connacht Champions and the u20, Junior and Senior County Champions. Music on the night by the fabulous Big Deal. ROAD SAFETY: A Public Meeting will take place on Thursday Dec 14th at 8pm in the parish hall. This meeting is held to discuss Road Safety concerns in the Kiltoom area N61 and lateral roads. Concern is safety of our Pedestrian and cyclists as well as motorists. If anyone has any issues they want raised please email by Fri 7th Dec. All local Councillors have been invited. As a large attendance is expected please arrive early.

Athlone Choral Society: will celebrate Christmas with their Annual Christmas Concert on Sunday 17th Decmeber at 6pm in Athlone Church of Ireland. Come and enjoy some festive cheer, mulled wine and special guest appearances from soprano Aisling Kenny and piper Mark Redmond. Tickets are €10 and are available in advance (Facebook page) or at the door.

EPILEPSY IRELAND: will hold their annual Church Gate Collection on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th December here at the Church of the Risen Christ. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Online Advent Calendar: As a unique Advent prayerful resource, the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference has provided its online Advent 2017 Calendar which can be enjoyed by people of all ages.  The calendar is available online, and on your smartphone, on  This year’s Advent Calendar focuses on the theme of family as we prepare together for next year’s World Meeting of Families in Dublin from 21 – 26 August.  Each day during Advent you are invited to click open a virtual door where you will find faith content for family, school and parish.  During Advent, families are invited to take special time together to pray, to talk, and to be together.  Family members are encouraged to undertake a daily act of kindness or charity – as suggested by the calendar – and by so doing reaching out to help those around us.  By using the online calendar, we hope that you will be part of our journey through Advent this year.
