 Special Appeal for East Africa: The Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference has announced that an emergency collection will take place at all Masses across Ireland on the weekend of 22nd and 23rd July to fund life-saving aid for people currently affected by the devastating hunger crisis in east-Africa.  The money raised will be donated to Trócaire, the overseas development agency of the Catholic Church in Ireland, which is delivering emergency food, water and health care to the 25 million people affected. Thank you for your vital support.

Envelopes for this appeal will be available at the Church Door.

Lough Derg Pilgrimages: You may begin the Three Day Pilgrimage on any day up to and including Sunday 13th August. Advance booking is not necessary. Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock: Bishop Kevin will lead the annual diocesan pilgrimage to Knock on Sunday 20th August.  There will be a 30km pilgrim walk from Castlerea to Knock, starting at 6.40am.  A programme for young people aged 12-17 will take place at the HUB (Knock Youth Ministry) from 11am.

Youth 2000 Summer Festival : The Youth 2000 annual Summer Festival will take place from 17th to 20th August 2017 in the Cistercian College, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary.  This is a donation only Catholic festival for young people aged 16-35.  Free buses from all over Ireland.  More info on www.youth2000.ie

Certificate in Religious Education (Primary): Are you a parent of a child in primary school who is doing the Alive O or Grow in Love Religious Education Programme?  Would you like to learn more about these programmes for your own faith development and to help you with the Religious Education of your children? If your answer is yes to both of these, you might be interested in the Certificate in Religious Education (Primary) offered by St Angela’s College, Sligo. This is a one-year part-time course over eight weekends which allows participants to explore issues of faith and life in such a way that they can assist primary school age children grow in their own faith and understanding of Catholic Christianity. BALLINASLOE CANCER SUPPORT CENTRE: Will be holding a Church gate collection in the Parish next weekend ( 22nd & 23rd of July) .  The Centre provides a free and confidential service for persons diagnosed with cancer and their families. It relies on fundraising and voluntary contributions to run the centre.

GERRY O’MALLEY MEMORIAL MONUMENT: The committee would like to announce that they have now reached their fundraising target and will no longer be selling raffle tickets or accepting donations towards the project. They would like to thank everyone for the support that they have received throughout the parish and from all over the County, Country and abroad. Due to Roscommon’s participation in the quarter finals of the All-Ireland Football championships, the raffle draw will now take place at 9.00pm in the marquee at the Brideswell Pattern Festival on Sunday 30th July 2017.
