MASSES NEXT WEEK: Friday is a Holy Day of Obligation,. Vigil Mass Thursday at 7.00pm. Mass on Friday morning at 8.30am & 11.30am.

NOTICES FOR NEXT WEEKS NEWSLETTER: Parish Office will be closed on Friday, the newsletter will be printed on Thursday so please have any notices in by 11am Wednesday.

ORDINATION MASS TIME: Sunday 17th December at 12.00noon .

Please note, there will be no 11.30am Mass on the 17th December due to Martin Reidy’s

Diaconate Ordination. All other mass times remain the same.

CHILDRENS CHOIR: We are hoping to get a Children’s Choir up and running in the next few weeks. We would like to get the parents support with this and ask you to encourage your children to become involved. We will have further details in the coming weeks.

REFRESHMENTS REQUEST: We will be having light refreshments in the Parish Hall after Martin’s Ordination on the 17th December. If you would like to bake something small please contact Monica Gleeson, Nancy Scally or the Parish Office to let us know.

AREA DISTRIBUTORS: The Christmas envelopes will be available to distribute next weekend. They can be collected from the Sacristy. Thank you for your help delivering these.

HOSPICE SHINE A LIGHT: You can sponsor a light on the Hospice Christmas Tree in Knock for someone you know, living & deceased, at all pharmacies in Roscommon & Mayo, Hospice shops & Knock Shrine. The Tree Lighting ceremony takes place in Knock at 2pm on Sunday 3rd December following a 5km memorial walk. All welcome. Contact 0949388666

Roscommon Cancer Support Centre: are holding their annual Christmas market in the Abbey Hotel Roscommon on Sunday December 10th from 1pm-5pm. All the sights, sounds and aromas of the festive season will be there and there will also be a special visit from Santa. Roscommon Solstice Choir: The award winning Roscommon Solstice Choir are to hold a Christmas Concert in the Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon, on Sunday the 3rd of December at 7pm, along with the renowned St. Brigid’s Community Choir  The Concert is in aid of Shalom Centre for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation who work to end conflict and build inter-ethnic schools in Africa. Tickets are 10 euro each.

THANK YOU: To our 3rd and sixth class children for bringing up the gifts and reading during Saturday evening mass. Thank you also to their Parents for their help and support.

Special Olympics Connaught: is calling on all who’s brave enough to get ‘Freezin’ for a Reason’ this December and raise funds for local athletes with intellectual disabilities. First ever Polar Plunge that will take place at Rosses Point on December 9th at 11am. If you are

interested you can sign up on www.specialolympics.ie and click on Freezin for a Reason go to the Rosses Point event you can register there.

 

SAMARITAN CONCERT: The  26th Annual Samaritan Christmas Concert will take  place on Wednesday 6th December in the Franciscan Friary, at 8pm. Compere on the night will be RTE’s Teresa Mannion. Tickets €12, available at the Franciscan Friary & Cunninghams’ Pharmacies. Samaritans are available on freecall 116123 24hrs for anyone  who needs to talk in confidence.  

COLÁISTE CHIARÁIN, ATHLONE: transition year students present “fiddler on the roof” on 5th, 6th & 7th December in the school hall at 8 pm. Admission: adults €10; students/oaps €8.   Tickets available from the college or book at 090 6492383.

ROAD SAFETY: A Public Meeting will take place on Thursday Dec 14th at 8pm in the parish hall. This meeting is held to discuss Road Safety concerns in the Kiltoom area N61 and lateral roads. Concern is safety of our Pedestrian and cyclists as well as motorists. If anyone has any issues they want raised please email kiltoomtraffic@gmail.com by Fri 7th Dec. All local Councillors have been invited. As a large attendance is expected please arrive early.

Marie Corcoran’s memorial fundraiser: Neds Bar, Knockcroghery, Saturday 9th December 2017. Starts 9.30pm, €10 entry. See parish website for further details.

BALLYBAY NATIONAL SCHOOL: The Annual Lighting of Ballybay NS Christmas Tree will be  Sunday, 10th December at 6:00 p.m. 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class will sing carols in the church and everyone is encouraged to join in. This will be followed by the lighting of the tree and hot chocolate in the hall. The Parents Association raffle drawing will also take place on the night. Tickets may be purchased in advance from Ballybay students and from the school office.

Athlone Choral Society: will celebrate Christmas with their Annual Christmas Concert on Sunday 17th Decmeber at 6pm in Athlone Church of Ireland. Come and enjoy some festive cheer, mulled wine and special guest appearances from soprano Aisling Kenny and piper Mark Redmond. Tickets are €10 and are available in advance (Facebook page) or at the door.
