KILTOOM PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL: Nominations to be made next weekend 13th & 14th May. You must have the consent of your nominated people (one male & one female). You are also asked to provide a mobile number for your nominated candidates. I (Fr. Michael) deem this Pastoral Council essential for the health, wellbeing and life of the Faith community.

MASSES NEXT WEEK: Please note, there will be no mass on Tuesday 9th or Wednesday 10th May.

SICK CALLS: The sick & housebound will be visited on Monday 8th May.

TROCAIRE BOX: A gentle reminder to anyone who has yet to return their Trocaire Box.

Church Choir: Are inviting new members to join the group. Anyone who may be interested is very welcome to enquire after mass or with any current member. Our next practice will be Thursday 11th May at 8.00pm.

Alter Society: We have had a few people offering to help clean and maintain the Church, we still need a couple more. It is rota based, and we need two small group to cover four of the twelve months. (one group for June & December, another for May & November) It would be approx. 1 hour per week on a day that would suit the group. If you are interested, please contact the Parish Office on 090 6489105.

6th CLASS, BALLYBAY N.S.: Kiltoom P.T.A.A. wishes to congratulate the children of 6th class who took the Junior Pioneer Pledge until they are 18 years of age. The ceremony took place at a special mass in the Parish Church on Wednesday last. Thanks to Fr. Michael, Ms O’Toole and the Parents for their help.

Vocations Sunday: This weekend we celebrate the 54th World Day of Prayer for Vocations.  In his message, Pope Francis says that “commitment to mission is not something added on to the Christian life as a kind of decoration, but is instead an essential element of faith itself.  A relationship with the Lord entails being sent out into the world as prophets of his word and witnesses of his love.”  Ask God what He wants for your life and know He only wants what is good for you. If you feel you are called to the priesthood or religious life, it will be the path to great joy and contentment.  See Vocations section on

New Sisters in Roscommon: We welcome the new Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother to our diocese and to Roscommon Parish. Bishop Kevin will celebrate Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon on Saturday 13th May at 7pm to welcome Sr Ruth, Sr Karen, Sr Bernadette and Sr Michelle.  All are very welcome to attend.

SAINT PADRE PIO MASS: The Mass of St. Pio will be celebrated in Strokestown Parish Church on Tuesday 16th May at 8.00pm. Fr. Angelus will give individual Blessings with St. Pio Mitten after Mass. Sacrament of Reconciliation from 6.30pm.

Fatima Conference – Ballinasloe: To mark the centenary of the apparitions of Our Lady in Fatima Prof. William A Thomas of the Pontifical Marian Academy, with the support of a number of other reputable agencies / institutions, has organised an international conference which will take place in Ballinasloe, Co. Climb for Life – Croagh Patrick: Annual ‘Climb for Life’ at Croagh Patrick on Saturday 13th May. The ‘Climb for Life’ is being offered for the protection of the 8th Amendment in our country and Fr. KILTOOM P.T.A.A.: A meeting of Kiltoom P.T.A.A. will be held on Wednesday 10th May at 10.00am in the Parish Hall.

ROSCOMMON/ATHLONE REGIONAL P.T.A.A.: Welcomes everyone to a Day of Prayer by Fr. Michael Mc Manus on Sunday May 14th in The Church of The Risen Christ. Beginning at 3pm with Reflection followed by Silent Prayer, Holy Hour with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Mass will be held at 5pm and certificates will be presented to each centre to mark the 50th Anniversary of our Regional PTAA. Refreshments will follow in the Parish Hall.

SHEAR-LY EWE HAVE TIME TO VOLUNTEER?: The 2017 Kepak All Ireland & All Nations Sheep Shearing & Wool Handling Championships take place in Kiltoom this June Bank Holiday Weekend and organisers are urgently looking for volunteers to lend a hand with everything from general admin and assisting with trade stands to handling sheep and directing traffic. A meeting will be held on Friday 12th May in St Brigid’s GAA Club at 9pm for anyone interested in volunteering.
